provider is to sponsor the East Renfrewshire
Youth Festival in October of this
year. The event, which is to be launched
on Saturday 7 October in Eastwood
Park, has been established to celebrate
youthfulness in the East Renfrewshire
area. The month long festival, which
is aimed at the 12-21 years age group,
will feature a number of events, accommodating
a range of interests.
The ER06 event, which is the first
of its kind, will open with an impressive
launch as the Scottish Infantry Parachute
Display Team jump into Eastwood Park.
The team known as the ‘Golden
Lions’ will land in Eastwood
Park with a large flag promoting the
event.
Also on the first day of the event,
Eastwood House will host a youth debate
chaired by Ken Macintosh MSP. Taking
part will be local school pupils from
throughout East Renfrewshire and also
youth from Albertslund in Denmark,
the suburb of Copenhagen, which is
twinned with East Renfrewshire.
Throughout October there will also
be a full programme of events and
activities including heritage, drama
and dance projects, a band night,
mini Olympics, holiday sports programme,
music and photography master classes,
creative writing, rap and graffiti
art workshops.
On the evening of Thursday 26 October
Barrhead Sports Centre will also be
transformed as the venue of the ER06
Oscars Night. Young people who have
been nominated for their achievements
will be honoured at an awards ceremony.

who can really benefit from the activities
and atmosphere of this month long
event’.
Established in 1978 in East Renfrewshire,
